The estate’s private guest house with two bedrooms and one bathroom comfortably sleeps four adults and is a traditional train car-style shotgun residence. The Guest house was built in 1892, on the original H.H. Slawson Plantation’s blacksmith shop grounds. This Victorian home boasts high ceilings and a magnificent Cajun Bayou-styled Porch ideal for cool starry nights and a quintessential New Orleans romance.

This Southern cottage includes all the modern comforts with updated furnishings and amenities. Walk to the local Bywater venues or to the Faubourg Marigny or French Quarter. After a day of touring the city or walking the riverfront return to your guest home to allow yourself a shaded retreat in the courtyard or pavilion. In the evenings enjoy the gardens while cicadas and tree frogs lull you into the New Orleans state of mind!

Bywater Cottages

The mystique of New Orleans can be felt in the third oldest section of the city, known as the Bywater, for its juxtaposition along the riverfront. Our neighborhood serviced the wharves until the 1990s. The Bywater Cottages are on the river road facing the muddy Mississippi and were built between 1867 and 1892. This historically landmarked property showcases quintessential Louisiana architecture and includes all the modern comforts of home. We invite you to retreat to the shaded porch or gardens each night, where cicadas lull you into a New Orleans state of mind.
